SUP Yoga Teacher Training
Location: The Shagwong Marina and KamaDeva Yoga, East Hampton, NY
Date: May 18-19, 2013 9:30 AM-4PM
- Basic of SUP : includes paddling technique, land handling, entry/exits, board/paddle selection and maneuvering
- Instruction for the SUP beginner
- Coast Guard safety rules, water safety protocol and self/student rescue techniques
- Anchor system set up and review of various systems
- SUP YOGA Sequences from beginner to advanced
- Logistical concerns, weather, varying levels of paddlers, etc.
- How to market your SUP YOGA class
This course will assume a certain amount of proficiency as both paddlers and yoga teachers. Ideally you are either a 200 hour RYT teacher through Yoga Alliance or plan on becoming one. In addition, you must be CPR and first certified or planning on taking the courses. The WPA Level 1 Instructor Certification is recommended but not required.
About Jessica's SUP and SUP Yoga Experience
She has been teaching Yoga for the past 19 years and paddling for the last five. Jessica is also a mother of two amazing children, ages 10 and 7, a doula, surfer, and triathlete. She is a WPA certified SUP instructor and a certified stillwater lifeguard and owns a Yoga studio in East Hampton, NY called KamaDeva Yoga. Jessica is really first and foremost a yoga teacher. She began practicing yoga postures on a paddle board about 4 years ago and started teaching SUP YOGA three years ago when she found it to be an AMAZING combination of all the things she love the most. Jessica, with the help of Gina, is to share this with you all and spread the SUP YOGA craze! She is also an ambassador for BOGA YOGA PADDLEBOARDS, who will be providing a number of boards for us for the weekend.
Tuition: The cost of the training is $800, and this includes shared accommodations in my house for those of you that need a place to stay. A non-refundable $300 deposit is required to confirm your space on this course, . The balance is due upon arrival that weekend. When to Arrive: Please plan to arrive either Friday evening, or Saturday morning for a 9:30am start time on Saturday.
What to Bring: We will have boards for your use, so no need to bring your board unless you want to. Please bring your paddle if you have one you particularily like.
