Chandler Grinnell is from Larchmont and Montauk NY, and has been an athlete all his life. He has been a swimmer, surfer, triathlete and is now a lacrosse player at University of Richmond, where he is entering his sophomore year as an environmental studies and business major.

Chandler started surfing when he was 8 and started doing triathlons when he was fourteen. He has won many triathlons in his age group (Westchester Alcatraz, and Montauk) and has always continued to surf as well as SUP! He is also a distance swimmer and has competed (and won!) The Swim Across the Hudson and The Ocean Rescue Race. He became a Lifeguard at Ditch Plains while still in high school and as a lifeguard he went to the National Lifeguard Competition where he won Rookie of the Year in 2008 for distance swim and run-swim-run.

At age 19, Chandler has accomplished many great athletic milestones, and he has also done tough wilderness training. He took his spring semester of 2011 off campus and completed a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) semester in the Southwest. In addition he is Wilderness First Responder certified, which is an 80 hour first aid certification and highest level of certification for wilderness settings.

Paddle Diva is lucky to have such an accomplished and dedicated young man on staff this summer! We welcome Chandler to the Diva Family...Scott needed some company!
