Rincon, Puerto Rico

This retreat combines the elements of land, sea and earth to provide our guests with an incredibly integrated trip that will get your body and brain in shape for spring! Join renowned trainer and athlete Ed Cashin of Weekend Warriors and waterman Scott Bradley of Paddle Dude and travel to Rincon located in Puerto Rico’s rural Northwest corner. Only a three hour flight on Jet Blue from JFK, this location has the most beautiful stretches of beaches in all of Puerto Rico that offer a variety of surf breaks perfect for stand-up paddle surfing, beaches that are ideal settings for a boot camp workout and  a house with open air decks with ocean views that help make a TRX workout complete!

After rewarding days of exercise and accomplishments on the water, we can arrange for affordable deep tissue, neuromuscular and Thai-massages right in your room or on the decks of our private house: Casa Azul. Scott Bradley is the owner the Casa Azul accommodation and is an invaluable resource about Rincon and the environs. Scott and Eddie will offer vaious levels of stand-up paddle instruction, and daily TRX/boot camp training sessions utilizing the surroundings to get in shape.

Daily Activities

This trip is all about you and what you want out of it, so you can do as much or as little as you desire. This is YOUR vacation!  You can enjoy an early morning run, or power walk, followed by a  morning stand-up paddle session and an afternoon bootcamp/TRX workout as the sun sets. All levels of students and all levels of activity are welcome. We are expierenced and patient instructors.

Optional Activities

Other activities that we can pre-arrange, prior to the trip include hikes in a local rainforest, mountain bike tours, snorkeling trips, SCUBA diving, sailing, horseback riding on beaches and trails, parasailing, fishing charters and surfing lessons.

Sample Daily Schedule

These are the daily activities the times and activities may change except for the meals everything is optional for instance if you'd like to sleep in and forgo the morning walk/run or if you'd only like to spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach or deck you are welcome. Nothing is mandatory, but everything is suggested!

7-9:30 Breakfast-granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, bread, hard boiled egg and smoothies

8:00-9:00 Fitness walk/run in the green hills of Rincon

9:00-10:00 TRX/Boot Camp led by Ed

10:00-10:30 Refueling (Snacks and water)

11:30-4:00 Stand-up Paddle Surfing/Touring

12-2:00 Lunch (not provided by us) at the beach food stands or we will take a run up to the deli

4:00-7:00 massage, yoga & meditation, personal time

5:30 Happy Hour! Casa Azul or Calypso Beach Bar

7:30 Dinner at the house, it will be a very healthy meal, offering vegetarian options as well as meats. One meal out.

Meals

Highly nutritious and delicious breakfasts will be prepared daily and will feature granola, local fruits and pastries. Dinners are included, expertly prepared, with ingredients sourced from only the highest quality.  We will enjoy these meals as a group at the Casa Azul House.  One evening will be enjoying a sushi dinner featuring locally caught fresh fish at Pools Sushi Bar.

Rates and Registration

Our featured housing options are located on the same property, both have access to the pool and are steps away from one another.

Casa Azul features the best views in Rincon. From the private 7 bedroom house you can see the ocean, the beaches and inland over the town of Rincon. It is a privately owned house, with all new construction and beautiful furnishings plus great indoor and outdoor spaces. The house is situated on top of a hill and is a short walk the wonderful Puntas Bakery and about a ten minute walk to PoolsBeach, or a quick drive to many great beach spots. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan, walk in closet, and beds with very comfortable mattresses and sheets.

Rates

Four nights double occupancy $1500 per person, $2000 single occupancy.  Upgrade to a Master Suite with private bath, and king bed, $300 extra, private apartment with own kitchen, bath and deck $500

Reservations

Please reserve your space, as we have a limited number of openings. A non-refundable $400 fee reserves your space. Airfare is not included, airport code for the local airport is BQN.

Flights

We recommend the following flights on Jet Blue.  JFK to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico: Leaves JFK at 5:45 AM April 7th Flight 735 and our return flight leaves Aguadilla 10:29 AM Flight 736. Airport pick-up inlcuded on these flights only.

About Us

Ed Cashin is the Founder and Director of Weekend Warrior Tours in Amagansett, NY, Ed has a BS in Fitness Management from Lock Haven University and is a certified triathlon coach by USAT 1999. Ed has 11 years of triathlon, marathon, and duathlon coaching experience as well as18 years experience as a strength and conditioning coach and trainer.

Scott Bradley was born and raised along the shores of Long Island and is the true embodiment of a “Waterman.”  He has competed in over 100 surf competitions and has over 15 years of surf instruction for children and adults. Scott was a was a NCAA Division 1 Swimmer and has had the experience of being an ocean Lifeguard for over 16 Years. His surfing accomplishments are numerous and he is the 1992 NYS Long Board Surfing Champion and  represented the East Coast at the 1992 United States Surfing Championships. Scott is also an eight time Ironman finisher, 5 time marathon finisher as well as having completed many local triathlons and adventure races. Scott began SUP 6 years ago when he had a prototype board built locally. Since then, he has been a  2 time participant of SEA SUP Around Manhattan Island,  completed the 2009 Molokai to Oahu 32 Mile SUP race and has been a  5 Time Montauk to Block Island SUP Finisher.
